Nurture Your Wellbeing Counsellor and Therapist

Angie Laslett

Hello, I’m Angie Fernandes, and I’m passionate about helping people heal in a way that honours the whole person – mind, body, and spirit.

For years, I’ve trained in both clinical therapeutic counselling and holistic healing practices because I’ve seen firsthand that true wellbeing comes from treating more than just symptoms. Sometimes healing requires evidence-based therapy like CBT. Sometimes it needs breathwork, energy healing, or sound therapy. And often, the most profound transformation happens when we bring both worlds together.

As a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I hold advanced qualifications in both areas – CPCAB Level 4 & 5 in Therapeutic Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, alongside Reiki Master Teacher training, Sound Healing, Breathwork, and foundations in Celtic Shamanism. This unique combination allows me to offer you an integrated approach that addresses your whole being.

Bridging Two Worlds

My Clinical Training

I hold CPCAB Level 4 Therapeutic Counselling and Level 5 Cognitive Behavioural Therapy qualifications, which means I can provide you with evidence-based treatment for mental health conditions, trauma, addiction, and emotional difficulties. I’m also trained in Voyage trauma-informed therapy and have specialised qualifications in addiction counselling and children’s therapy using art and play techniques.

My Holistic Journey

But I’m also a Reiki Master Teacher – the highest level of Reiki qualification – as well as a qualified Sound Healing Practitioner, Breathwork Facilitator, and so much more. I’ve pursued these paths because I understand that healing isn’t just about changing our thoughts. It’s about releasing trauma stored in our bodies, balancing our energy, and reconnecting with our inner wisdom.

Why I Combine Both

Research increasingly shows us that trauma lives in the body, not just the mind. Traditional talk therapy is brilliant for addressing thought patterns and behaviours, whilst holistic practices like breathwork, sound healing, and energy work help release what words simply cannot express. When we bring them together, we create space for profound, lasting transformation.

I don’t believe you should have to choose between conventional therapy and holistic healing. In my practice, they work hand in hand.

    My Experience

Working with Children & Young People

I have extensive experience supporting vulnerable children and young people through my work with Place2be, a school-based mental health counselling service. I’ve held school counsellor roles for many years across primary and secondary schools in Essex and the London Borough of Waltham Forest.

Working with children aged 5-12 years, I facilitate workshops, therapeutic groups, and individual counselling sessions using art and play therapy. I’ve found these approaches are often far more effective than traditional talk therapy for young minds – children process emotions differently, and sometimes a paintbrush or a toy can express what words cannot.

    What I Specialise In

Throughout my career, I’ve developed expertise in understanding how to explore emotions and the underlying conditions that prevent wellbeing. I work with people experiencing:

    • Mental Health Challenges – Anxiety, depression, stress, panic attacks, phobias, low self-esteem
    • Trauma & PTSD – Complex trauma, childhood trauma, emotional wounds, grief and loss
    • Addiction & Recovery – Substance abuse, behavioural addictions, recovery support
    • Children’s Difficulties – Emotional challenges, behavioural issues, life transitions
    • Relationship Issues – Couples counselling, family dynamics, communication difficulties
    • Bereavement – Grief support, loss, navigating life transitions

Supporting Mental Health in the Community

Throughout my teaching career and beyond, I’ve held various pastoral support roles and actively support mental health charities. I’m passionate about mental health awareness and reducing stigma, and this commitment extends beyond my private practice into community education and advocacy.

    Your Treatment, Your Way

I use an integrative approach, which means I draw from my extensive training to create a personalised treatment plan that feels right for you. There’s no one-size-fits-all here.

Some clients benefit most from structured weekly CBT sessions. Others find profound healing through holistic therapies like Reiki or sound healing. And many discover that combining both approaches creates the deepest, most lasting transformation.
